joranalogue/step-8
Step 8
Sequential tracking/sampling register: an analogue 1-to-8 signal switch feeding eight high-stability track/sample-and-hold stages, each with its own attenuation slider, analogue output, and gate output. Can be configured as a sequencer, sequential switch, counter, analogue shift register, or addressed voltage source.657
Capabilities 5
- Analogue Shift Registeranalogue-shift-register
- In shift mode, each step event shifts all stage voltages to their right-hand neighbour; supports rotating shift register configurations.657
- Sequencersequencer
- Built-in 8-step counter with scan output provides sequencer functionality; individual stage sliders set voltage levels.657
- Sequential Switchsequential-switch
- Analogue 1-to-8 signal switch with 8 track/sample-and-hold stages; solo mode mutes inactive outputs.657
- Signal Switchsignal-switch
- 657
- Track-and-Hold / Sample-and-Holdtrack-and-hold
- Each stage holds its voltage with low leakage (minutes-long storage); switchable between track and sample modes.657

| Name | Signal | Voltage | Description |
|---|---|---|---|
| Inputs (6) | |||
| Pause Input | gate | — | While high, step triggers no longer advance the register. In sample mode, the selected stage output is still updated, allowing independent stepping and sampling.657 |
| Reset Input | trigger | — | Rising edge returns the register to the stage determined by the Stage Input voltage. In shift mode, all data shifts to align with the newly selected stage. In sample mode, automatically triggers a new sample unless a cable is plugged into the step input.657 |
| Reverse Input | gate | — | While high, causes the step direction to reverse from right-to-left rather than left-to-right.657 |
| Signal Input | mixed | — | The main analogue signal input routed to the 1-to-8 switch. In cycle mode it is switched to each stage in turn; in shift mode it is always passed to the leftmost stage. Suitable for audio and CV.657 |
| Stage Input | cv | — | Analogue CV input to directly address the register to a specific stage. Also determines the reset stage when the reset input receives a trigger.657 |
| Step Input | trigger | ≥2V | Rising edge advances the register by one step. In sample mode also causes a sample to be taken. By plugging a cable in, the automatic sampling on reset is overridden.657 |
| Outputs (2) | |||
| Scan Output | mixed | — | Always outputs the voltage of the currently active stage. Used for sequencer, addressed voltage source, or waveshaper applications.657 |
| Step Output | trigger | ≤5V | Generates a 50 µs +5 V trigger pulse on every stage change. Can be used to synchronise other modules with no latency.657 |
Parameters 4
| Name | Type | Range | Behavior |
|---|---|---|---|
| CYCLE/SHIFT Switch | switch | — | In cycle mode, the input signal is passed to each output stage in turn and held when not selected. In shift mode, the input is always passed to the leftmost stage and each stage shifts its voltage to its right-hand neighbour on a step event.657 |
| SOLO/ALL Switch | switch | — | In solo mode, only the selected analogue output is active; all others are muted at 0 V. In all mode, inactive stages continue to hold their voltages and all outputs remain active.657 |
| Step Button | button | — | Advances the register by one step. In sample mode also triggers a sample of the input voltage.657 |
| TRACK/SAMPLE Switch | switch | — | In track mode, the selected stage output follows the input at all times. In sample mode, the input voltage is sampled once the stage becomes active and held constant thereafter.657 |
